Sasser was another worm virus that made itself known in 2004. The virus was used to scan through multiple IP addresses; then once it found a proper victim, it would find and attack any other IP addresses or systems that were in contact with that one. By doing this, it was able to spread its virus quickly without anyone even having to acknowledge it. There was not even that easy of a way to get rid of it without completely cutting out your whole computer’s power system and completely starting fresh.
Because of this, not only did the virus go for many individual computers but it also quickly got to more public networks such as hospitals or transportation systems. This virus caused 18 billion dollars in damages.
