Backup and disaster recovery in Ottawa

A backup that nobody monitors and nobody has ever restored from is not yet a backup. It is a hope. The difference only becomes visible on the worst day of the year.

428 Rideau Street, Ottawaapproximately 16 years serving the National Capital Region

Sound familiar?

  • Some computers are backed up and nobody is certain which.
  • Cloud files are assumed to be safe because they are in the cloud.
  • No one checks whether last night's backup actually completed.
  • A restore has never been tested.
  • There is no written plan for the day something is gone.

What proper backup looks like

Coverage, monitoring and proof — in that order.

  • Every business computer covered, not just the important-looking ones
  • Independent backup of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace data
  • Daily monitoring so failures are noticed by us, not by you
  • Periodic restore testing that proves the data comes back
  • A written recovery plan naming what is restored first

Cloud storage is not backup

Microsoft and Google protect their platform. They do not indefinitely undo a deleted, overwritten or encrypted business file for you. Independent backup of workspace data is the gap we find most often in Ottawa small businesses.

Common questions

Do we need backup if we use Microsoft 365?
Yes. Microsoft protects the service, not your individual files against deletion, overwrite or ransomware beyond limited retention. Independent backup covers that gap.
How often is data backed up?
Standard coverage is daily, and more frequent for business-critical data. We agree the schedule with you before setup.
How do we know it works?
Because we test restores and show you the result. An untested backup is not something we are willing to put our name on.
